Final Fantasy FXN Network News
Earlier today Square Enix released four different soundtracks for Theatrhythm Final Fantasy on iTunes. Each soundtrack is based around one of the game's gameplay modes - Battle, Event, Field and Chaos Shrine.
The soundtracks for the Battle, Event and Field modes are particularly interesting in the sense that they all contain 13 tracks, one from each numbered title in the series in its original version. In other words, each soundtrack is effectively a compilation of music from the main series. The Chaos Shrine soundtrack is a bit of an exception as it features 15 tracks with some games (VI, VII) being represented by as many as three tracks, whereas others (II, III, VIII) aren't represented at all.
The Battle, Event and Field soundtracks are all priced at $8.97 in America and £7.67 in the UK, whereas the Chaos Shrine soundtrack is priced at $9.99 and £7.99 respectively.

On the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn blog, the developer release the sample track of sultanate—Ul'dah!
According to the blog:
For ARR, we've put a great deal of time and effort into developing realistic ambient sounds, as well as content-specific effects (so much so that we're beginning to run out of memory to fit them all in!). Rather than have the music be the focal point of each and everything you do in Eorzea, we'd rather it be an accent. Put the BG back in BGM, so to speak. Making sure that every crunch, every chirp, every knock, and every note fits the world perfectly is the most important part of my job as sound director.
That's not to detract from the importance of an epic soundtrack. No, sir! But I believe that music has its biggest impact when it enhances those climactic peaks in a story. If it's always in your face, it just lessens that impact. So, when the action or the story is put on hold, or you are simply out walking about, we're trying to make it so the BGM melts into the background so you can better immerse yourself in the world. Of course, when you step into those important quests, battles, and cutscenes, we've seen to it that the music plays a more central role in your experience.

A week after one of the world's biggest game publisher's lost its CEO, it's happened again. Yoichi Wada has stepped down as Square Enix CEO after the company revised it's full year financial forecast down by ¥16.5 billion. That's a big change that takes the forecast out of profit and firmly into an annual loss, and is apparently due to lackluster console title sales outside of Japan since the last forecast in October last year.
Wada has held the position of CEO for 13 years, after joining Square Enix in April 2000 and being elected to the head of the company in December that year. His replacement is Yosuke Matsuda.
